Abstract

Lugbe, a rapidly urbanizing suburb of Abuja, Nigeria, is facing increasing environmental sustainability challenges amidst its expanding population. These challenges include waste management issues, water resource depletion, deforestation, and the effects of climate change, such as flooding. This paper examines the intersection of urban development, resource management, and climate resilience in Lugbe. Through a review of existing policies, field observations, and secondary data, the study identifies critical areas requiring intervention and offers practical solutions to achieve sustainable urban development. The findings underline the need for comprehensive urban planning, effective waste management systems, and the integration of climate adaptation measures to ensure a sustainable future for Lugbe.
