Abstract
This study tries to assess the level of family planning knowledge in the Kamrup district of Assam through employing of primary and secondary data. Family planning knowledge and family size are interrelated and is reflected in the use of family planning methods, number of children and the desire for children. In the study area it is seen that not many respondents have knowledge of family planning or the importance of small family size. Family planning measures are also not seen to be adopted but despite these, the family size 85 per cent of the respondents are observed to have small family size. Knowledge of family planning is important as it empowers a woman, a family and a nation.
